Parashat Toldot is the 6th weekly Torah portion in the annual Jewish cycle of Torah reading.
Torah Portion: Genesis 25:19-28:9
Toldot (“Generations”) opens with the births of Isaac and Rebecca’s twins, Jacob and Esau. Esau sells his birthright to Jacob in exchange for soup. Isaac and Rebecca travel to Gerar, where Isaac makes a peace treaty with King Abimelech. Isaac gives Jacob the blessing meant for Esau, and Jacob runs away to his uncle Laban. Chayei Sarah (“The Life of Sarah”) opens as Sarah dies and Abraham buys the Cave of Machpelah to bury her. Abraham sends his servant to find a wife for Isaac. The servant meets Rebecca at a well, and Rebecca returns with the servant to marry Isaac. Abraham remarries, has more children, and dies at age 175. [1]

Shabbat Mevarchim Chodesh Kislev Saturday, November 19
Molad Kislev: Wed, 28 minutes and 8 chalakim after 22:00

Any Shabbat that precedes and begins the week during which there will be a day or days of a new Hebrew month (Rosh Chodesh) is known as Shabbat Mevorchim (mevorchim means "they [the congregation] bless" [the forthcoming new month].
Hebrew School at Temple Sholom of Ontario

Come join us for our next Sunday Family Learning Day (see below)
First Session Sunday 10:00am - 10:40am
Second Session Sunday 10:50am - 11:30am

Hebrew school is back on at Temple Sholom of Ontario. We will continue in the fall hold classes virtually on Sundays starting at 10:00am PT. There will be two sessions, 40 minutes each, with a 10-minute break in between.
Details will follow soon.
The first session will focus on Hebrew reading and prayers. We will read from the week's Torah portion using a Chumash and an online site. Besides the main prayers used in our services, we will also learn Torah and Haftarah blessings.
The second session will be a general learning session of that weekly sedrah/portion. We will also discuss notable Jewish personalities, from celebrities to prophets and kings. There will also be special topics such as gossip and evolution.

Special Family Sunday School/Learning Day
Next Learning Day will be on November 20

We are going to have our next Learning Day
The program will include classes and activities for children and their parents. Rabbi Stephen (me) will be doing a special program for children over 11 and their parents. Two Sunday School teachers will be offering programs for children ages four to eleven to learn prayers, Bible stories, art, and a time for constructive play with other children. At approximately 11:30 am everyone will join together to enjoy a bagel brunch.
